President's Note James "Bird" Guess
James "Bird" Guess graduated college with dreams of climbing the corporate ladder and becoming a prominent financial executive. But after only working a year in "Corporate America", James grew bitter of the politics and bureaucracy associated and decided to venture out on his own to become a full-time entrepreneur.
With a repossession and other unpaid debts on his credit, James had a negative net worth. Determined to take control of his financial life, he began to study money, business, and wealth on a daily basis.
Starting with only $1,000 saved from college, he single-handedly built a quarter million dollar apparel business from the trunk of his car. Shortly thereafter, his business model would transition from retailer to wholesaler of apparel, which generated $750,000 dollars in revenue.
After creating financial stability, James began to focus on rebuilding his poor credit to help expand his business ventures. During that process he learned one of the most important lessons in Capitalist America: The heart of business and America's economic system is credit! Once he repaired his creditability, James could now take one step closer toward financial freedom. As an entrepreneur, he has bought and sold over $2 million of apparel. He now uses his financial acumen to help others create wealth in their lives!
James is currently the President and Founder of BlacBird Investments LLC, a financial intelligence consulting firm. The mission of BlacBird Investments is to empower individuals and organizations to become financially intelligent and ultimately financially independent!
James is also the founder of The School of Money and Wealth, a financial learning center that empowers individuals and organizations with financial intelligence so they can successfully manage real-life financial situations and create wealth. He is also the founder of The Black Economy.com, an on-line financial intelligence magazine created to entertain, educate, and empower Black America to learn about money, wealth, business, black culture, and economics. James is an aspiring author and currently working on his first book, How I Made A Quarter Million Dollars From the Trunk of My Car.
As an entrepreneur and investor, James truly believes that ambition, financial education, discipline, and opportunity are the basic ingredients to accumulating wealth. However, wealth is secondary to God, family, health, and happiness.
